Life In Kelantan...

Today is Friday, weekend in Kelantan... am not going back as i'm taking off this month end...

Life is bit different here...

Had my first ICU call in USM.... started in the morning but not in ICU but on standby for any ECT, Embolectomy, CTScan and ICRT in A&E.... there was a case in ICRT in A&E minor OT... Ca Cervix Stage 3b

Then praying hard nothing else till my take over at 4pm....

At4pm, taking over and few beds are empty... after taking over, doing my rounds and then in the evening, things started to happen, pager goes off as usual.... referral here and there... Medical, Neuro, Ortho, Premed!!! also... can you imagine that?!

Anyway, didn't complaint much, just do it by priority....

12am, case just finished from OT and transferring in... case started in morning and ended in the night!!! Hypovoluemic shock, hypothermia and i need blood and warmer... not bad, quite fast in ICU (luckily)

then after settling the case, it was 2am and headed to my call room to catch some nap...

referal here and there, settled thru phone....

first day in USM

First day in USM OT.... am posted to Pedia Surgery... total got 4 cases, first one is under LA. Second case, bilateral inguinal hernia, third case, hypopediasis and last case, anal repair... OT starts at 9am... after meeting at dept for those just join in campus 3rd year, total 5... we went to Dean office to say Hi... then went to the respective duty... me and one more gal from KT posted to OT. Raziman and the rest posted to ICU. ICU posting is for a week...
so, since there is no PM shift, i wonder when am going to finish my list... anyway, i already prepared for the worst...
the OT is like a maze... and I am like a mouse... to make things worst, there is few colours for the scrub gown... got PURPLE, got blue, got YELLOW, got brown, got Green, got PINK!! luckily i managed to find one... BLUE scrub (Divya will surely take the PURPLE), and off i go to OT4.... which is somewhere, some part of the OT complex... OK, got it...
still first case... last case got postponed from Surgical site, very good... so left two more GA cases, bilateral hernia and primary repair of hypopediasis... so that's means i can finish early and do my premed early and go back early.... YAHOO!!!
to my dismay, nothing like that happen... induce patients at 0940hrs, but surgeons are not around... MO after seen us induced, disappeared... so, cool down. in campus, not suppose to make any noise... wait wait wait for 1hour plus, then surgeon came... ok... second case induced at 1240pm and case started at 1340hrs.... finished at 1630hrs and off i went for my premed...

Lunch was provided in the OT for all the doctors.... just like call food, baggers can't ask much...

No Brain?

At my neighbourhood, there is a Sai Baba Center... where there will be lots of devotees coming to do their worshiping. They will parked their vehicles the way they like, not caring the residents over here...
the road over here is narrow and the way they parked their cars really created a headache and nonsense to the residents here...

Hospital Care...

I did round today and i noticed this in one of the patient... please do take care of this small basic thing...

See the way the branula is being anchored, and the extension to the ventilator tubing, leaking without being noticed by the nurses in the ward... there is persisted hissing sound from the tubing...

Pay before you stay??

I would like to share this incident that I have encountered recently...

I am going for the MSA meeting this coming April in Langkawi. The venue is in Awana Langkawi but it is fully booked by the MSA secretariat. They offer other hotels. I have no choice but choose one cheaper hotel, Aseania Resorts Hotel, Langkawi which costs 150RM per night. I called and made the booking... it was not a pleasant first impression... it took so long for the operator to answer my call, and when I said I would like to make the booking, they transfered my call to the hotel reservation which again put me on hold for 15mins. Then, after I mentioned that am attending the MSA, they passed me to the person in charged, and I was told that I have to fax in the hotel reservation with my particulars and credit card details. As I have previous made hotel reservations with my credit card and there were no fault so far, so I faxed and made the hotel reservations.

Two days ago, I received my credit card statement. I was shocked that the hotel has charged me the full amount of 3 days stay even before I'm going to the hotel!!! I have traveled many places and made hotel reservations online, as i know, they will swapped the credit card for deposit and when we checked out, they will only billed you and teared off the deposit slip...

I called the hotel management about the above matters, to my dismay, they told me, full payment has to be made before you stayed in the Hotel!!

Am I missing out something??
